Knowing your identity in Christ will change your outlook on life. In this resource, memorize some or all of these 26 Bible verses focused on remembering your identity in Christ.

When you know your identity is in Christ, it will change your outlook on life. Deciding to trust and follow Jesus is the first step of becoming a new person. It’s because of His death, burial, and resurrection that you have been made new (2 Corinthians 5:17). However, it’s easy to forget who you are in Christ when the world’s messages feel much louder than the truth of God’s Word. 

Here are 26 verses going through each letter of the alphabet to remind you who you are in Christ. Select a handful from this list or even try memorizing all 26 Scripture passages. Consider inviting a friend to join you and see how knowing who you are in Christ changes how you live.

In Christ, you are…

Adopted 

“he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will” Ephesians 1:5 (NIV).

Beloved 

“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience” Colossians 3:12 (NIV). 

Chosen 

“For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight” Ephesians 1:4 (NIV).

Delighted In 

“The LORD your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing” Zephaniah 3:17 (NIV). 

Established

“Now to him who is able to establish you in accordance with my gospel, the message I proclaim about Jesus Christ, in keeping with the revelation of the mystery hidden for long ages past…” Romans 16:25 (NIV). 

Forgiven 

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness” 1 John 1:9 (NIV). 

Given Everything You Need 

“His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness” 2 Peter 1:3 (NIV). 

Heir 

“Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory” Romans 8:17 (NIV).

Invited 

“​​All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away” John 6:37 (NIV). 

Justified 

“Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ…” Romans 5:1 (NIV).

Known 

“You have searched me, LORD, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar” Psalm 139:1-2 (NIV). 

Loved 

This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins” 1 John 4:10 (NIV). 

Masterpiece 

“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do” Ephesians 2:10 (NIV). 

Not Condemned 

“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus” Romans 8:1 (NIV). 

Oak of Righteousness

“They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor” Isaiah 61:3b (NIV).

Purified 

“…let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water” Hebrews 10:22 (NIV). 

Qualified 

“Such confidence we have through Christ before God. Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God. He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant—not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life” 2 Corinthians 3:4-6 (NIV).

Redeemed 

“It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption” 1 Corinthians 1:30 (NIV). 

Sustained 

“Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken” Psalm 55:22 (NIV). 

Treasured 

“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light” 1 Peter 2:9 (NIV). 

Unashamed 

“As Scripture says, ‘Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame’” Romans 10:11 (NIV). 

Victorious 

“But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ” 1 Corinthians 15:57 (NIV).

Welcomed 

“In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence” Ephesians 3:12 (NIV). 

Exquisitely Made 

“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb” Psalm 139:13 (NIV). 

Lightly Yoked 

“‘Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light’” Matthew 11:28-30 (NIV).

One Whom God is Zealous For  

“But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved” Ephesians 2:4-5 (NIV).
